The problem

A lot of beginner POD and DTF creators run into one specific wall: cleanly removing the background around small, fiddly details in a design, then checking the design still looks right once it's on a colored blank. Every "easy" tool for that seems to cost money.

The solution: Photopea, for $0

Photopea is a free, browser-based editor that's close to a full Photoshop clone — no install, no subscription. Here's a simple way to pull a clean transparent background out of any design and preview it on different blank colors, using only free tools.

Before you even open Photopea: when you generate your design, think ahead about what color the blank or product will be. Matching your working background to the final product color makes the whole background-removal step much easier.

1. Start with two versions to compare

Generate two identical designs — one on a black background, one on a white background — so you can compare both approaches side by side.

2. Open Photopea in your browser

No installation — just go to photopea.com.

3. Open your file

Tap Open from Computer and load your design.

4. Confirm your layer is selected

Make sure the layer with your design is highlighted before moving on.

5. Filter → Other
